Beliefs and Misconceptions

Diary entry #7 - 31 January 2012

Dear diary,

The regular routine of being woken up by the resonating sound of my phone alarm every morning has yet been continued again. Yes, school has started yesterday. I do miss school. Unlike every other year, I'd be complaining about having to go back to school. Maybe I'm getting old, it's my last year in high school and I'll surely miss my friends. So after I took some time to consider whether or not to ditch the first day of school, I made a decision to be a good boy and go. I was expecting a rather pleasant morning, for the start of a brand new week, but no. Assembly was horrible. The feeling of having to witness my dear friend apologize to the head mistress in front of the whole school was rather disturbing. We all know it was a small issue lit into a big fire. It all comes down to the wall of ego and pride one has, and that lady above us with lots of power obviously has a very big ego. Nevertheless, the hectic season is finally over. I'm happy she managed to stay strong throughout the whole thing.

We had quite a lot of free time on our hands and so I caught up with my friends, listening to what they've been up to the past week. I could tell for sure, everyone is still in the holiday mood. I'm really happy I've reconciled with that one friend that I haven't been speaking to. Anyway, I brought the souvenirs I bought from Penang to school. I don't usually buy things for people unless it's someone's birthday or something. Considering the fact that I don't travel much, it was my first time buying souvenirs. The smiles on my friends' faces was more than enough. I gave them these little 'butterflies'. Later on in the day, we had to do our physical tests. I was happy to see Mr. Khoo as our PJ teacher again. Doing those pump ups, sit ups and running those laps really gave me the sores. It was so sudden, and all I've been doing was eat eat eat during the holidays. Haha, it was refreshing though.
Souvenirs; Butterfly keychain. They're real butterflies !

Butterfly necklace :)

I got into a little argument with my friend in class. As a fellow Christian, I may not be the best role model of Christian qualities. I've lots more to learn as I surrender myself to God who strengthens me. My friend, and atheist, started making fun of this video. He was saying that the guy who wrote the poem, Jefferson Bethke was speaking rubbish. Others who do not understand might think he is contradicting himself, but no. He speaks of the truth. Religion today is different from those times back then. Now, anyone could proclaim that their a Christian. But really, do we all behave like one? Christianity should not be a label or a chore to just go to church every Sunday. I am a Christian, and I do not go to church on Sundays. I do know that's not a good thing, but I have my circumstances. Christianity is a personal relationship with God.

Quoting Jefferson Bethke, "The church isn't a museum of good people, it should be a hospital for the broken." I believe there are many churches out there who care more about how their services run on Sundays, than what a church should really be; the house of God. Back to the story, I got really offended when my friend made that video a laughing stock. He literally mocked me, because I totally agree with Jefferson Bethke. I was boiling inside, literally. You have just proven the truthfulness of his words, because religion is what creates war. You should respect what others believe in, and I strongly stand for what I believe in.

Dear friend, I know you dislike us Christians. The Christians you know may not portray Jesus in them, because they are merely human. It's like the same as me mocking your race. Just because one Indian is behaving like an idiot doesn't mean all Indians are the same. I feel you, because you're Indian but we all love you for who you are. So stop spreading gibberish about how to live life. Life is not just about getting wasted, being blinded by lust and having sex. You may have your ways to live your life, but do not mock others of their beliefs. You're always a clown, but do note that you always speak without thinking because you think what you say is always true. So don't just think you can offend others and just laugh it off.

Oh, and I didn't go to school today. I got lazy (: but I did get a haircut, finally. Tomorrow is a holiday! Looking forward to it.

Til then,
Leo.
